Summary: Spews Coffee grounds everywhere- What a piece of junk! 2010-03-09
Comment: I bought this grinder for my husbands birthday. It sounded like a decent grinder with the features we needed and had many good reviews.
We plugged it in tonight, filled it with beans and pressed the button for 4 cups. The coffee grounds shot out from a small gap between the grounds container and the body of the grinder. My husband tried to cover the slot but grounds had spewed out and covered the floor, the counter, and our hands and clothes. What a joke! It was so ridiculous we just both looked at each other and laughed. The container that holds the grounds was cheap as well as the lid for the bean holder.
After cleaning up ourselves and the kitchen, we put it back in the box and I hope to return it tomorrow.
What a waste of time and money!! I am sticking to the standard tried and true grinder we've had for a few years now.

Summary: Grind quality unacceptable 2010-02-19
Comment: This grinder is unable to produce fine grind, only coarse, coarser and coarsest. Even that outcome is very heterogeneous, with big chunks and small peaces mixed together. This is unfortunate because the machine otherwise looks good and has everything else a grinder may need and it is inexpensive compared to most other burr grinders. However, all that is in vain if a grinder does not grind right.
I never use drip coffee, so I don't know if this kind of coffee grind is good for that or not, but for espresso and Turkish coffee this grind is unacceptable.

Comment: Bought this to give as a gift. My daughter said it really does the job so I say for the price it's a great deal.

Summary: Does the Job... 2010-01-06
Comment: I have only owned this coffee mill for a couple of weeks, so I can't promise anything beyond what I know now. Before buying the Toastmaster, I owned its 'twin' made by Melitta (except the Melitta had an all black front panel with no silver piece behind the buttons). It lasted for several years, but had a tendency to clog especially with the oilier coffees at the finer grind setting. So far this one has worked fine. It does the job well at a reasonable price for a burr mill. Is is not as large as many of the others so it takes less counter space. It has small suction cups at the bottom which help it grip the counter top and prevent it from scratching the granite. This burr mill is a good value and I recommend giving it a try before you spend much more money on another mill.
