Summary: Item received not item advertised 2010-03-06
Comment: The item listed, pictured on the page and that I ordered was a Sunbeam Hot Shot 3211. The item received was a Sunbeam Hot Shot 6170, which was far too large to fit in my counter space. I returned the item in accordance with the instructions included in the packaging. Brand Variety did not refund return shipping on this item. Amazon.com finally made things right with me by issuing an Amazon merchandise credit.

Summary: Works great!! 2010-02-26
Comment: I've had mine for at least 5 years -- I keep it at my desk at work and use it 5 days a week at least once a day.
It provides me with hot water on demand -- boiling hot and ready for my tea or instant coffee.
And other than a pesky leak (after 4 years) which can be offset by lightly jiggling the dispense handle -- it works just fine and does what it's expected to.
It's also great to have at home by the kitchen sink to make hot water instead of leaving a pot to boil and then forgetting it, when you run off to work (aagh!)

Summary: old rubber hose taste 2010-02-10
Comment: Had one for years that performed perfectly. However, the replacement one produced water from this item tasted like it was coming from a very old garden hose. Even using filtered water didn't help.

Summary: Great, use it everyday 2010-01-09
Comment: I've had my Hot Shot for five years now and it's still going strong. I use it to heat water for tea, oatmeal, etc and it works wonderfully. I just bought one for my mother, who loved mine when she visited (it's also nice because she no longer has to worry about her tea pot boiling dry and potentially starting a fire). Great product. Super hot water in 60 seconds, and if you hold the button down you can make it boiling water in another 10 seconds.

Summary: As a replacement 2009-12-12
Comment: I bought this for my Mother to replace an older model which had built up calcium deposits and leaked badly. It works fine, just as well as the older model. But my Mother is nearly blind and pretty feeble. The new location for the "On" switch is a little harder for her to find and it is pretty stiff. She has a difficult time depressing the button to turn it on. The ridges help her locate it, but the location of the appliance on her counter requires her to reach an arm's length so when she depresses the button her finger rests on the ridge around the button and makes it difficult to depress it far enough to turn it on. The older split lip switch was much easier to work for her.
