It can simultaneously be a coffee maker and an espresso maker too. It has a large glass carafe that can make up to 10 cups of coffee, and is a 15-bar pressure system that has a thermo-block heating element. You can use ground espresso or ESE pods that are pre-portioned in this machine. You can program features such as the strength and size of your espresso, your wake up coffee, hot water and steam function, digital clock, and also the aroma selector that is used for brewing small servings of coffee. It has an attractive brushed stainless steel finish and a blue LED display that lights up. This heavy-duty machine weights 190 pounds and its dimensions are 13.6 x 11.5 x 12.8 inches.
Summary: Fantastic--for the few months that it works 2009-12-14
Comment: I loved this machine when I first got it, and I still love the coffeemaker side of it. The espresso machine stopped pumping water. I decalcified regularly, and as a last resort, I took it apart to check for a blockage. I couldn't find one, but the machine can't pump more than an ounce of water before it shuts down.
Complete waste of money.

Comment: We registered for this machine for our wedding. I am so dismayed that someone we love spent $300 on it - it died after 18 months and we did all of the proper care recommended. Nothing was wrong with it, it was running fine, and then one day, it just died. Upon contacting Krups, we got a standard form letter which told us we could send it to one of their service centers (the closest is 200+ miles away) and pay on our own to get it fixed or we could get a rebate of $10-$35 towards a new Krups product AFTER purchase. I will not be buying another Krups coffee maker or any other Krups product. The large price tag should come with a better guarantee that it will last and a better customer service if it won't.
Complete waste of money.
