Summary: Used a 1500 for almost 8 years and love it 2010-08-23
Comment: I've used my 1500 for over 8 years and love it for both drip coffee and expresso. Haven't had any of the breakage problems others have spoken about so don't know whats up with them.

Comment: My wife purchased this machine for a gift for me. It was ok to start with, until it started leaking all over the counter top in under three months. I tried everything to fix it, but now luck. I would not recommend this machine to anyone. Steer Clear if you can.

Summary: Krups XP 1500 is Terrible! 2010-07-11
Comment: What a disappointment this coffee maker is! It weighs a 1/3 of the similar one I replaced, which means they've gone cheapo on the construction. The coffee basket does not have a straight in - lock in path, instead it's wobbly and you have to 'play' with it to get it to close securely. This means it's surely going to wear out prematurely because of the cheap plastic its made with.
After a couple of months usage there is a leak somewhere out of the coffee basket area which spills off onto the front side of the machine. The round heater-keep warm area under the carafe has developed bubbles and wear in a short period of usage. And the unit leaks some when you pull out the carafe even after the coffee has fully competed its brewing, when there really should be a better stopper function.
The carafe itself spills and dribbles when you pour out the coffee from it into a cup. For full disclosure I haven't used the espresso makerKrups XP1500 Coffee and Espresso Combination Machine, Black. Hugely disappointed in this KRUPS product as opposed to the original I bought from them. Am done with this company, as it is obvious they are riding a formerly quality reputation with now lower quality goods poor in design and construction materials.

Summary: Didn't last as long as it's predecessor. 2010-07-03
Comment: Bought this to replace an older model Krups combo which worked like a champ for years! This one lasted 18 months and died. The coffee maker just stopped completely mid-pot, and we can't figure out why. Espresso side still works, but frankly, is a lot more cumbersome a process than with the old model.

Comment: i had an older one of these several years ago that i recently retired because of internal leaking. the new coffee maker is fine. the main difference is that the pot is better than the old one. the old one couldnt pour from the spout without dribbling everywhere. i havent tried the espresso yet, but that was fine in the old one.
