Product Description
Finum Brewing Basket Given the delicate tissue structure that makes up the filter, the product may be used for fine teas and coffee alike. The combination of high quality plastic and stainless steel allow the user to have an aromatic enjoyable experience while the tea lid maintains the tea warmer for a longer period of time. Once the brew is complete, the lid can simply be flipped over and used as a drip tray for the used tea filter.

Summary: does the trick! 2010-07-25
Comment: I use this with a travel mug, and its perfect! brews the tea and i dont have to touch the tea bag or loose leaves. I just tap into the trash! cleans easily and the cover/drip dish works nicely too. I am really glad i got this.

Summary: Great for Yerba Mate' 2010-07-23
Comment: I got this to use for Yerba Mate', which has very small leaves that get into the tea and taste gritty. Almost all other tea strainers let the smaller leaves through so I had to use a metal "straw" like the gauchos do...
But this is much simpler, just put the leaves in the basket, run cold water through and set it in the cup, pour hot water and let it sit a couple minutes: no need for straws, etc, no gritty leaf residue.
Since then, I have also used it for other teas and it is much easier than other tea strainers.
In fact I plan to get a couple more to have upstairs and for guests, etc.
The medium size fits big and small cups and would probably work in a smaller teapot as well. Before you buy, measure the opening of the largest cup you will use it in and make sure it is under the diameter of the filter plus the two flanges on each side: they are intended to hang over the opening of the cup or the pot.
Get the larger size if the diameter of your cup or pot is over 3 7/8 inches or your filter will fall in. The exact measurements of the filters, large and medium, including the flanges on each side, are given in the product information.

Comment: this basket is very easy to use, no leaves out at all.
The reason that I did not give 5 stars was that I kind of taste the metal. Maybe it was just imagination, but the tea color was also different, not as green as before, but dark yellow.

Summary: The lid does not lock on 2010-07-07
Comment: I think this is great product. Just so you know that the lid does not securely lock on. It just sits there. I wanted a strainer for brewing and keep the hops contained. I made a SS latch to go on top. Other wise it works great.

Summary: Finum Brewing Basket - Good, but could be better 2010-06-24
Comment: I was looking for an infuser that could brew fine leaves since the infuser I received has mesh which is too large for the leaves. The brewing basket is perfect for brewing a cup or small pot of fine, loose tea (the basket weave ensures that event the smallest of leaves do not fall through). However, there are 2 improvements that would make the basket much more useful for brewing a large pot of tea (or iced tea in a pitcher). Most importantly, the top does not screw on or attach in some way, so that if the basket were to float in the pitcher or pot, the top would come off. Also, it would be nice to have a chain on top so you could attach the basket to the rim of the pot for easy removal (assuming of course that the top would stay on the basket which it does not).
Other than that, this is a quality item which should satisfy most users.
