Product Description

Features and Benefits: 10-CUP (50-OUNCE) CAPACITY. BRUSHED STAINLESS STEEL DOUBLE-WALL THERMAL CARAFE is a unique design that retains heat, keeping coffee hot for hours. It also helps to preserve that fresh coffee taste. 24-HOUR PROGRAMMABLE TIMER WITH BREW AUTO SHUT-OFF. Set the timer the night before and wake up to fresh-brewed coffee. SWING-AWAY FILTER BASKET WITH PERMANENT GOLD TONE FILTER. Just swing-open the basket for quick removal of the permanent gold-tone filter. AROMA BUTTON actives a unique brewing process that enhances the flavor and aroma of your coffee. To achieve this full-bodied flavor, the coffee maker advances through several continuous cycles. During the cycles, water is released into the filter basket in 30-second intervals. This special time-released process saturates grounds a little at a time to extract the best flavor and aroma from your coffee. SHOWER HEAD DESIGN helps to extract your coffee's full, natural flavor by allowing water to completely saturate all coffee grounds. WATER LEVEL INDICATOR lets you know how much water is left in the unit. PAUSE AND SERVE FUNCTION allows you to interrupt the brewing cycle and pour a cup of coffee. CORD STORAGE. NON-STICK PLATE makes cleanup fast and simple.

Summary: PERFECT Coffee - Easy to use! 2008-07-28
Comment: DeLonghi coffee makers are some of the best out there. On this model, the aroma button allows a slower brewing to ensure excellent quality of flavor. And - you actually use less coffee per brewing. The thermal carafe works PERFECTLY - unless you don't follow the directions. (Go figure?) Brew the coffee with the carafe lid in the correct position, and you'll not have any problems. The carafe is easier to clean than most - with the opening large enough to get a cloth inside for washing the interior. The gold-tone filter works better than most with no 'sludge' ending up in the pot. I highly recommend this model for price, function and quality of coffee.

Summary: dissatisfied with billin 2008-01-12
Comment: The product is fine...it was a present. I was billed by Amazon and then again by DeLonghi. I'm still waiting for someone to send me a confirmation notice of pickup for the un ordered product. How can I order 1 coffee maker, receive 2, be charged for 2 and unable to return the one I didn't order? What kind of service is this? It will be a cold day in July before I order on-line. Why should I have to be inconvenienced by your error. It would be nice if you could resolve my dilema. I should be remimbursed for the unordered coffee maker, the delivery charge and the interest accrued on my credit card. Will someone please help me?

Summary: An abysmal, wretched appliance 2007-11-15
Comment: The DeLonghi DC55TCB Coffeemaker proved an abysmal, wretched appliance for the few days we used it before summarily whisking it back from whence it came.

The first time we used it, post the initial cleaning cycle, the DC55TCB worked fine. Even then, however, I was puzzled by some aspects of this coffeemaker. First, the much too-small buttons for setting the clock and timer are just to the left of the clock, which means that if you are right-handed, then you cannot see the display as you set the clock and timer because your hand blocks it. Next, the slide in basket is designed to confuse users with a confounding series of ridges and fins that need to be aligned before the filter holder can slide into place.

Despite these designs, clearly engineered for some life forms other than humans, if the DC55TCB could simply make coffee, it would be OK. Alas, this device does not follow through on the one task it presumably was created to perform. The first day, it worked fine. By the fourth morning, this DeLonghi coffeemaker was churning out lukewarm coffee that had to be reheated in a microwave--and not after an hour. I mean the coffee was never properly heated at all. Worse the filter remained full of water and grounds, never properly draining, but spilling and sloshing a black paste of coffee and tepid water anytime we would attempt to remove or return the carafe.

Needless to say, the coffee did not magically warm itself subsequent to its initial nonbrewing process, meaning that the weak, tepid brew the CD55TCB dispensed was not actually drinkable.

Still, not all was lost during those several mornings. I became quite familiar with the directions, having read and reread them; I was able to work on keeping my inner calm through a series of deep breathing exercises; and once the tepid, pale coffee cooled down (which did not take long), I could use the brown water on our outdoor plants, which have been suffering because of the current drought.

I've since returned the CD55TCB to the retailer where I purchased it. I have a full refund. But somehow, I'm not quite satisfied and have to suppress visions of slipping into a warehouse full of these rotten coffeemakers and smashing the whole lot with a stout crowbar. Time for more of that deep breathing. . .

Summary: DeLonghi Coffee Maker 2007-10-25
Comment: This is my second DeLonghi coffee maker. My first one lasted for years, and only because of my carelessness did the first one quit working. I wanted another one.....just like the other one!! 8-)

Summary: Still perking after all these years! 2007-09-14
Comment: Sorry to hear about so many bad experiences with this coffeemaker. If I couldn't have my morning coffee, I'd be pretty cranky, too. We've used this machine every morning at least three years and it's been nothing but trouble-free. I knocked off a star because I do agree the coffee's not as hot as I like it (so I nuke it for 30 seconds, no big deal) but my significant-other thinks it's the perfect temperature. Thermal carafes seem to be like that. You can't please all the people all the time. If DeLonghi doesn't honor their warranty, they should be held accountable, but I can't speak to that.
