Product Description
The DeLonghi Combination Espresso/Coffee machine is an all-in-one machine that can brew coffee and espresso simultaneously. This machine can also prepare a great cappuccino, latte or hot chocolate for the perfect drink. The patented instant froth dispenser lets you add froth right in the same cup as your coffee or cappuccino. This machine features programmable digital timer that allows you to set the machine to turn on at a later time and even sets to the exact minute. The Vario system and Accuflavor selector dials allow you to choose the strength of espresso and coffee just the way you like it. The 10 cup Carafe allows you to make enough cups of coffee to keep everyone satisfied and the Drip Interrupt feature lets you have a cup before the pot is done brewing.

Summary: After many other coffee makers, this one has not disappointed 2008-12-22
Comment: The machine works great. Just pour in milk and twist the knob for foam, anyone can do it. Other machines have the steam "stem" and you had to have a good technique to get good foam, this one is idiot proof.
The auto foaming only fails when we use heavy cream. Milk, Half and half etc all worked perfectly for us. What happens when it doesn't and what the others mean by "leaking" is that the machine combines steam and Milk from a "Milk reservoir", if whatever you are using is too heavy to be sucked up through the straw, it will slowly just push from the top and eventually "leak" from the front of the machine. It gives plenty of warning because if it doesn't start dispensing foam within a few seconds , then something is wrong.
We mainly use ours for coffee and foam. Which is does well, you don't need to have the espresso handles on the machine as there is a turn valve that eliminates the "dummy plugs" with other machines.
Like anything under $400 these days, it's mainly plastic so we're hoping to get at least a year or two out of it. The foaming mechanism is clever but could be improved to avoid the "leaking" that sometimes occurs, but overall we would buy this one again over any of the others for the price range.

Summary: Two for Two with Defective Machines 2008-11-22
Comment: Last December I bought the BCO-130T machine. I thoroughly enjoyed it - the coffee it made and the very good espresso and cappuccino. It worked fine for awhile. About June/July it started leaking water from the bottom of the machine. I called the suggested repair facility in Virginia. As soon as I started to explain the problem to the owner, he told me the problem and that it was common and the machine would be replaced. I sent it in for repairs. Well that process took about 8 weeks, an absolutely ridiculous amount of time.
I finally get a replacement and now a couple/few months later this new machine is also leaking. So now I am two for two of machines that are defective and do not work. Although I have "had" the machine for about 11 months I have not been able to use it but about 8+months.
I have no confidence whatsoever in going through the process again not to mention that I will again have to pay shipping and be without a coffee maker for weeks. To spend ANY more money on this inferior product would be throwing good money after bad.

Summary: Dissatisfied with inferior product 2008-10-05
Comment: We have had several DeLonghi products including earlier generation combination coffee/espresso machines. When our old machine wore out, we tried this new version. We tried the espresso maker and it didn't work right and then the coffee maker and it didn't inject water completely into the coffee grounds. We contacted DeLonghi and they said it was defective and needed to be returned, which we did. Overall it was dissappointing to see a company's product quality degrade so significantly.

Summary: Hot Chocolate? 2008-09-23
Comment: The owner's manual did not have recipes for either hot chocolate or lattes. We called their customer service and they were zero help. They even insisted that the recipes were in the manual while they are not. Can anyone help? If you are looking to Delonghi for help, forget it.

Summary: Great Disappointment 2008-09-09
Comment: This machine does make good coffee as long as it is working. Unfortunately, working is the operative word. We had our machine for 8 months when the pump in the coffee maker failed. DeLonghi replaced the machine since it was still within the warranty period (Save your receipt!). The replacement machine began leaking water all over the counter after about 10 months and soon the pump failed again. Since the ORIGINAL purchase has been more than a year ago there is no warranty on this machine. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. Our basic plain Jane inexpensive coffee makers have been far more dependable than this rather expensive device.
