Summary: Satisfied. Makes a great cup of coffee. 2009-01-08
Comment: I'll dub this coffee maker the "freshly ground coffee lovers" single serve coffee maker. I've read a lot of reviews and have had coffee out of both the Cup-O-Matic and the Keurig machines and it came down to this machine and the Keurig B70. The deciding factor was the Cup-O-Matic will do a much better job when it comes to using ground coffee. With all the Keurig machines you can only fit a certain amount of ground coffee in the adapter (at an additional cost) and if you're like me and enjoy a tall cup (12 oz) in the morning you will get a weak cup. Not so with the Cup-O-Matic's brew basket. For me that's a large plus as I like to grind my own beans and 99% of the coffee I drink is fresh ground as opposed to pods. I still have some pods on hand from my old machine (an older Black & Decker model) and there is an improvement in taste over that machine, but IMHO pods don't compare to freshly ground whole beans.

The reported noise problem is not an issue for me. No doubt it is the loudest out of all the single serve coffee makers out there, but it's not like the Keurig machines are whisper quiet either. My grinder (The Breville BCG450XL) is the first thing to start making noise in the morning anyway and it is a bit louder than the Cup-O-Matic. Again, not an issue in my case.

I think my only very minor gripes are 1. The brew time. There is a two minute preheat time before you can start brewing. This is where the Keurig machines have an advantage. 2. The "clean" button does not function until the machine has gone past the preheat time. In other words. I could be cleaning the spay head while I'm waiting for this thing to heat up. Again, though. Very minor complaint.

Overall, I'm satisfied. The Cup-O-Matic makes a great cup of coffee and that's what's most important. If you want maximum convenience get a Keurig. If the flavor of your coffee is most important get this machine.

Summary: If you buy this Coffemaker you will be sorry! 2008-12-17
Comment: I read all the reviews and couldn't believe that the coffemaker could be as bad as some made it out to be. Well it's worse!! It is excessivly noisy it vibrates like crazy, and my cup did in fact slide of the rest during brewing. Not only did it have these problems it stopped sensing the brew cup and would not brew coffee. Cuisinart sent a new one and it worked a week. Now more water spews out around the brew cup than goes through the brew cup. Water all over the counter top and very weak coffee. I let my 30 day return period with Amazon pass so now I have to deal with Cuisinat. All they want to do is send another noisy, vibrating coffe maker that does make great coffee. Don't make my mistake buy something else.

Summary: Noisy and fussy 2008-12-15
Comment: First, I'll say that it makes consistent great coffee and that's what its all about.

Two complaints:
First, as already stated its really, really noisy.
Second, despite them sending me a replacement it has a habit of not brewing until I jiggle the basket around.

Summary: the best coffee maker, ever!! 2008-09-24
Comment: The machine does make some noise. That being said, who really cares when you end up with perfect, customizable coffee for one every single time? It is the easiest machine to use, clean-up is as easy as washing the brew basket and cup, and there is never stale or wasted coffee. The noise, to me, is completely tolerable and, since the machine is really fast, it is also short-lived. The only thing that I ama little wary of is that the machine shakes a little and can move a bit, so you need to watch the cup when it first starts dripping because it can move around and even off the tray. This can be remedied by removing the tray and placing the cup on the counter, and it can be lessened by placing a rubber mat (i use a mousepad upside down) under the whole unit. I think this helps with noise a bit too. All in all, I still give it five stars, even with these issues, because when all is said and done, you end up with perfect coffee using your favorite ground coffee and you never have to buy a pod, although you have that option too. I couldn't imagine life without my cuisinart cup-o-matic, I've even all but stopped buying coffee outside, which I did 6 times a day before! I LOVE this machine!

Summary: Not really much of a cup 2008-09-05
Comment: Yes, it is noisy beyond imagination, whenever the pump activates, and then the beeping, too. But the worst part is that after it finishes, the cup of coffee is not even as good as my old Mr. Coffee drip machine. I am not unhappy enough to send it back, but I rarely use it and it will not occupy the prime real estate on my counter for long like that. I would not buy this again.
