Summary: oops!!! 2010-07-26
Comment: Unfortunately the item I purchased was for a newer model of Braun coffeemaker. As a result it was wider and shorter, thus unable to activate the release to let brewed coffee flow into the missized carafe.

Summary: Closed but no cigar 2010-07-07
Comment: Yes, the carafe is just fine HOWEVER mine arrived without the hinged spout cover CONTRARY to the picture. I've found the spout cover very useful in the more than several carafes I've gone through in the 15 years I've had my TRUSTY Braun coffee maker. It inhibits evaporation of the coffee, delaying the bitterness which occurs if the coffee is kept warm in the carafe for over 1 hour.

Summary: Good coffee but these carafes are thin-skinned, poorly engineered, sensitive souls 2010-04-09
Comment: We're 20+ year users of the Braun Aromaster 10-cup Coffee Maker. It makes great coffee. Out of principle, we won't update to anything fancier. Who needs more bells and whistles than this? It does not wake you, schedule automatically, turn you into a barista, read your e-mail, require special thimble-sized inserts, etc. It dependably makes good coffee. That's all, and all we need.

But the carafe? It's a notoriously thin-skinned, poorly engineered, sensitive soul. Logically, yes, we should upgrade our coffeemaker because the economics of standing pat on the Aromaster 10-cup doesn't compute: looking back at our ordering records here on Amazon, I see we're going through these carafes now at the rate of two every 13 months. The glass cracks at the slightest tap. The little apparatus designed to hold the top on to the carafe is made of cheap, narrow plastic. That part is guaranteed to break after - at best - three months. After that, the covering just sort of balances on the top of the carafe and serves little purpose other than to direct the brewed coffee into the hole. It says something about our faithfulness to the Aromaster that we stick with it despite this Carafe Annuity.

Summary: Can't live without it! 2010-02-12
Comment: What's life without a good cup of coffee? This replacement carafe filled the bill in all respects. It sits firmly on the base, is well aligned with the downspout, thus no splattering. I love it.

Summary: Not strong enough for long term durability 2009-12-30
Comment: I completly agree with the first reviewer - the coffee maker itself is great. Its simple, inexpensive, long lasting, and makes good coffee. But the carafe is too weak. It should be made of strong pyrex glass, but instead it seems to cracks too easily. My first carafe cracked after about a year and I ordered this replacement. I was always very careful with the second one, but after about a year, it cracked also. Now I am ordering my third one. I am also like one of the other reviewers who said he refuses to buy another coffee maker out of principle. I don't like metal carafes because you cant see how much coffee you have left. I feel like I'm buying a new coffee maker each year. Its almost like the business models with ink-jet printers - sell the printers cheap and kill them with the recurring cost of ink. Here, its the recurring cost of the carafes.
