Product Description
Patented new locking lid system offers a heat seal and precision pour spout. In a vivid array of eight colors, you will enjoy looking at the BEAN as much as using it!
By pressing lever with thumb while pouring, the user has total control over flow of liquids. When lever is released, liquid not only stops pouring but spout actually closes off which eliminates exposure to outside air. This allows your coffee to remain hot and fresh for a longer period of time and prevents drips while serving.

Summary: Bodum Bean French Press Coffee Maker 2010-01-30
Comment: This coffee maker is an improvement over the previous Bodum French Press that I have. This one keeps the coffee warmer for a longer period of time. It has a special rubber rim in the lid that closes the pot more tightly.

Summary: smooth cup 2009-12-28
Comment: I have never used a french press coffee maker before. I was very pleased that this was easy to use and clean. You just put in the coarse ground coffee, add hot (not boiling) water, stir, let sit about 4 min., then slowly lower the press. The coffee it produces is much smoother then from a 'normal' coffee maker. I normally find coffee a little too acidic but this is wonderful. I also usually add sugar and cream but I think this coffee is fantastic black. Be aware that even though it says it makes 8 cups it's more like 2.5 cups. I also add more coffee grinds then it recommends for a stronger cup. My only real complaint is I wish the coffee stayed hot longer. Since you can't use boiling water it seems to get cold faster. I am still delighted with it and recommend it for any coffee lover.

Summary: Makes Excellent Coffee, but... 2009-09-09
Comment: This is my first french press. My sister and brother in law only use these. So we went to visit them on vacation and coffee has never been the same. I tossed the drip crap we had and bought one of these from my local Sur La Table for $30. It makes the best tasting coffee ever! I do not use coarse ground as it states. That was a little weak for us. I use fine grounds, making an almost espresso strong coffee. I am now making home made lattes for great money savings!
Now the one con-the lid. Yes, it is cool to have a no spill feature, but you can't clean inside the lid! I can forsee some nasty growth in there sometime in the future. We use ours everyday. I thought about putting vinegar and hot water in and pouring that out to help, but then I have to be REALLY sure to get all that outta there before brewing again. Not worth the hassle for me.
I plan on returning this model tomorrow for one that just uses the beaker to pour and not some plastic part. Plus, staying away from the plastic is better for us in the long run anyhow.
